Day 02 Delhi
Morning sightseeing in Old Delhi includes a visit to the opulent Red Fort; Rajghat, memorial site of Gandhi and Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India. Drive past Kotla Firoze Shah, the ruins of a 14th century fort and see the Ashokan Pillar. Continue to New Delhi; visit Qutub Minar and Humayun's Tomb. See the imposing India Gate and Parliament House. Then, on to the Quwat-ul-Eslam (Light of Islam) Mosque and the uncorroded Iron Pillar. Evening: Sound & Light Show at the Red Fort.

Day 04 Udaipur/Jaipur
Today touring in Udaipur includes the City Palace Museum, with its sparkling white filigreed balconies; the Jagdish Temple; and the Sahelion Ki Badi Gardens. Late afternoon flight to Jaipur, capital city of Rajasthan, known as the “Pink City” because of the usage of local pink stones. Arrive and transfer to your hotel. Then experience a richshaw ride through the crowded bazaar. |

Day 05 Jaipur
Morning visit to the Amber Fort, a magnificent fusion of Mughal and Hindu style architecture. Ascent to the fortress-palace by elephant-a royal experience! See the exquisite interior, decorated with ivory, wall paintings and mirror chips. Walk through the Chamber of Mirrors and the Hall of Victory, with it's alabaster panels. Afternoon visit to the City Palace Museum, a blend of traditional Rajasthani and Mughal art, with its dazzling collection of royal robes, carpets and weapons. Continue to the well-preserved Jantar Mantar Observatory, and the Hawas Mahal "Palace of Winds" with its ornamental facade.

Day 06 Jaipur/Fatehpur Sikri/Agra Taj Mahal
Morning drive to Agra. Stop en route at Fatehpur Sikri, an epic poem in red sandstone built by Emperor Akbar as his capital-it's courtyards and palaces conjure up dreams of the mysterious past. Continue to Agra. You'll stand in awe today at the astounding Taj Mahal- perhaps the most perfect architectural monument in the world, built by the Emperor Shah Jehan as a memorial to his beloved wife. This extraordinary structure, of white marble and precious stones, was built by 20,000 men who labored for over 17 years. Evening: Magic Show at your hotel. |
